Dear Sirs,
I am an English born Sierra leonean. Unfortunately my father did not give me the opportunity to school in africa. He was a pupil of the Sierra leone Grammar School and talks of his school days all the time and his participation on sports. This makes me feel left out and sometimes feel non-african.However since I am his son, is it possible for me to become a member of your Old Boys Union which would also give me the opportunity to be associated with my own country men? Best Regards. C.T

TO ENTRANTS OF 1959 CALLED “FIFTY-NINERS”
FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF OUR ASSOCIATION WITH THE GOOD OLD SCHOOL

Fellow Fifty-Niner,

2009 marks the fiftieth anniversary of our entry into the Sierra Leone Grammar School and the beginning of a life-long association with the Good Old School. Our experiences as pupils contributed immensely to our personal development and enabled us to make positive impacts on our community later on in life.

Having gained so much from our Alma Mater, we should give her something in return which would enable her to enrich the experiences of those presently in the school.

With the recent change of our school’s status, expectations are high and facilities must be provided to enhance the school’s operations. Old Boys are called upon to assist in providing the enabling resources to transform our school.

Although we may belong to the Old Boys Union or other groups of Regentonians, our fiftieth anniversary of entry provides a unique opportunity to celebrate and mobilize our resources to make a substantial contribution to our school’s developmental efforts. Imagine what a massive impact we would make if about 100 of us who are still alive at home and in the Diaspora come together as one unit to support our Alma Mater.

For such a laudable goal to be achieved, there is need for a plan of the first phase which is outlined below:
1. Identifying all known surviving Fifty-Niners
2. Locating those identified and obtaining their contact details
3. Developing a database using the information gained
4. Summoning the first meeting to brain-storm., identify key objectives and develop strategies —selecting the core organizing group.
5. Formulating a list of activities with possible dates and names of implementers

The process will be aided by the dissemination of information at each stage using various media and contacts,

YOU HAVE BEEN IDENT1FIED AS A FIFTY-NINER BECAUSE YOUR NAME APPEARS ON PAGES 111 TO 114 OF THE SCHOOL ENTRANCE REGISTER PUBLISHED IN 1985 AND ATTACHED. AS AN INTEGRAL AND COMMITTED PARTNER OF THE FIRST PHASE OF THE PLANNING PROCESS, YOU SHOULD IDENTIFY ANY OTHER SURVIVING FIFTY-NINER KNOWN TO YOU FROM THE LIST AND SEND THIS DOCUMENT TO HIM FOR FURTHER PERUSAL AND DISSEMINATION. PLEASE KEEP A LIST OF THOSE CONTACTED BY YOU AS THE INFORMATION WILL BE COLLECTED IN A MONTH’S TIME. WE ARELUCKY TO HAVE THE PRINCIPAL WHO WILL SERVE AS THE MAIN CONTACT AND FROM WHOM ADDITIONAL INFORMATION CAN BE OBTAINED.

AS IS USUAL IN ALL THINGS REGENTONIAN, WE COMMIT THIS ENTERPRISE TO GOD’S KEEPING FOR HIS GUIDANCE AND BOUNTIFUL PROVISION WE ARE SURE HE WILL ENDOW US WITH ZEAL AND WISDOM TO PURSUE IT FOR A SUCCESSFUL OUTCOME.

FLOREAT REGENTONIA GOD BLESS OUR GRAMMAR SCHOOL
