Hi Everyone,
I am so hoping someone can help me. My Nana Betsy Rattray Mitchell Johnstone and some of her sisters Mary Gray Johnstone, Margaret Hull Nicol Johnstone were in the orphanage in the approx 1920-1930. I have a photo of Betsy in her uniform aged approx 10. She was then brought to Australia. Does anyone know of or have any further info on her or her sister?

Hello,I'm Elma Ross(Mrs Chick)I was taken to Aberlour Orphanage in september 1962 with my brothers George and Alexander Ross.My brothers George and Alexander were then sent to a house in Aberdour Aberdeen. I was allowed to go to the same house as them in the year 1965, we spent 2years in Aberdour Aberdeen before being placed back with natural mother.
I remember sitting at the dinner table not wanting to eat, I wanted to go out to play on the three wheeled bike, I was told that if I didn,t eat my dinner I wasn,t allowed to go out. I said I didn,t like what was in front of me, so I was sent back to the dormatray to bed. I often fell over but instead of putting my hands out to save myself I always landed on my elbows.
It would be nice to hear from anyone who was there when I was and also the same age. I was born in 1960 so was 2 years old when i arrived my brother Alexander was nearly 4years he was born 1958 and George was 6years he was born 1956.

Hi, I had a grandfather William Hutton Taylor and his brother John Taylor, who where at the Aberlour Orphanage from around 1924, John left shortly after entering (family took him in), however William stayed till old enough to leave. He returned to Dundee then.
Does anyone have any information about his time there. I would be most appreciative of any information about his time there.

Hi, to Trevor Russell. I met you at the last Reunion at St. Margaret's, Aberlour. You gave me your e-mail address because I said I couldn't get on to the other Message Board through the e-mail situation on the Aberlour Orphanage website. I think it said to e-mail you first, and I tried to, but it didn't work. I don't know what I was doing wrong. I can't remember what I did with your e-mail address. It must be among my lots and lots of paperwork/notebooks/etc. Please, is it possible to get in touch sometime to let me have it again. I could 'phone the lady sometime who collected all the 'photos for the books, because I'm pretty sure I have her 'phone number. Also, I could do the same re Bob Noble and Alan Brooksbank if they're still available to be 'phoned.
Thanks in advance.
Thelma

From: Thelma (Miss Clark) Fraser (Spey) (tassbyg@hotmail.com)

January 31 2008
Hi, Eddie. I tried to e-mail you sometime last year, but it didn't work - don't know why not. Hoping to 'phone you again sometime, and that all your family are well.
Still haven't been able, so far, to get in touch again with Robert Cameron (Cammy).
There was a reunion in Aberlour, in St Margaret's Church, last year - can't remember the date when it happened. When I saw your e-mail on the Message Board, asking about the Reunion, I was thinking, ''Why didn't Eddie know about that?'', and wondered why I wasn't able to get in touch with you. Have the 'phone numbers changed through which I was able to 'phone you before.
Phyllis (Hendry)(not sure if there shoud be an 'h' in Hendry) was there. She drove to Elgin to collect me, and then we both went up to Aberlour. I think that tht was supposed to be the last official reunion, but I hope it wasn't that. I think someone said that it would now be left for the Old Boys and Old Girls to organise meetings themselves. It's possible that some people will try to bring about something more sometimes. I'd certainly like to help in some way, but not to be the main organiser. What I'd be able to do would depend on other commitments, including Family, Relations; and, obviously on health, money, etc.
I know that Phyllis (Miss Hendry) would have liked to meet you again!!!
Have any other 'Spey' boys been in touch with you?
Must go. Other computering to do.
Thanks, Eddie, if you've read this.
It'd be great to be able to get in touch with any of the others.
Thelma (Miss Clark ) (Mrs. Fraser)

Looking for a Pauline Mitchell who I'm sure lived in Aberlour in the early 50's. She was fostered by my parents in the view to being adopted but as my mother died before this transpired I beleive she was returned to the orphanage in 1955. If anyone has any information about her I would appreciate it as I would love to find her again.
