For some reason, a couple of those songs popped into my head recently and I did an Internet search and found this page. I'm so sad Sam is no longer making music. But I plan to reacquaint myself wiht the music he left behind. My best wishes to his family and friends who miss him still.... ![]() From: Cindi Bonifer (gigibonifer@yahoo.com) May 16 2010 Fans and friends, the tribute book called ''Sam Neely: Loving You Just Crossed Our Minds'' is now available by emailing me at the above address or calling 361.947.0418. There are great pictures of Sam by Patrick Lewis and others contributed by Sam's family. Proceeds benefit local charities. Thanks for your patience and support of this book. It has been an honor to write it with my daughter Lorelei Stenseth. ![]() From: JD Sell (jd@ma.rr.com) April 13 2010 I've been a disc jockey since 1973, and we got thousands of albums and 45's into the station in hoped of getting air play. I remember the first sam neely song i heard triggered something in me. I took the record home, and started listening in a more casual surrounding, something I often did to get a better feel for new artists. It only took a couple of days to realize Sam was special, and started giving him some plays. We got good response, but more than that, I knew I had become a lifelong fan. ![]() From: GeBe Landergren (gbwriter@hotmail.com) March 29 2010 I bought your album in Los Angeles 1978 after listening to you.(probably in the radio). Rosalie was one of my favourite. So sad to realise that yoy are not with us anymore. But you are still alive. We will all of us meet you. I love your song Rosalie. I live in Gothenburg Sweden. Kisses to Jason & Kelsea (I hope I understood right that you are the family. Kisses from GeBe ![]() From: judye (spence)clark (judylovesdolphins@yahoo.cvom) March 21 2010 hey sam i just read alot of the other hellos and i agree ther is no better way to take yourself back to a good or even great time in life than to sit down and put your cds on and listen like the old song says ''get lodt in the fifties: you can really get lost in time going back to the ele eel kings inn and many other places they sure were ggod times i moved to mem in 1977 but if it hadnt been for your records dont know if id stayed would come back to cc and first night home we;d go looking for sam and wouldnt take long to fine you either im so sorry i missed the last 30+years but i have my memories and cds to keep on going i now have the last two so im good to go hope ton see you nagain someday and then we can let the party start all over again love judye ![]() From: Laurie Roussel (pianochick711@yahoo.com) March 18 2010 I'm so glad we can still hear you. I'm so sorry that you and my dad had to go within days of each other. I can really try hard to remember his voice which has now faded softer than a whisper in my head, and the only tape we had was that on the answering machine and my brother erased it. How fortunate J is to have so much of you left...really, how blessed the whole world is to have you yet a part of it in some way. You were so gracious to us all. I know what people think your big accomplishments were, but as a parent I can say that NOTHING IN THIS WORLD OR THE NEXT compares with the feeling of accomplishment & satisfaction when you teach and instill something in your child & see it come to fruition. For those who don't know, Sam's son, Jason, is a living legacy...with a singing voice that eerily mirrors his dad's at times, but his guitar ability...it's his superpower...like watching Superman fly! I know he's proud of you & Kelsea, Jas. I know it's hard for Jas to fathom that he doesn't walk in Sam's shadow, but rather equally beside him and though Sam probably sounded parental (to Jas at least) when coaching him along, I always, ALWAYS saw the pride he had in Jas after he'd solo...Always if I caught his eye, I could see the sideways, twinkly irish smile...along with...THE EYEBRow... ^ Sam, Wherever you are, I hope you and Louis go easy on prankin' Dad...;] ... yet a loyal fan, Laurie ![]() From: Bobby Moore (bobby.moore@callabco.com) Home page: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000436541302&ref=nf March 14 2010 I'm so sorry to hear that Sam passed away. I met Sam more than 20 yrs ago when he was playing in my Mom and Dad's night club, The Kountry Klub. I loved his song The Party's Over (I was a big fan of MASH) when Sam found out that I had takin the time to learn the song he asked if I'd like to sign it with him. I was awe-struck and couldnt believe that someone like Sam would ask me to sign with him on stage. But he had and so I did. It was something that will be with me forever. I've posted a picture of Sam and I on that night on my FB page. Goodbye and solong my friend. I had 50c to spend and out of everything a kid could spend their money on at a fete, I chose to buy my very first cassette tape from a box of someones old tapes. It was the music of Sam Neely and I played it over and over year after year. 26yrs on I still have it as for some reason I have always cherished it. In all of my moves it was boxed with my valuables and for the past many years I have kept it in my top drawer along with my passport. It would have been an honour to have met you and through reading your guestbook a little part of me feels as though I have in some way. Besides, one day I'll be where you are now and I will have the pleasure in meeting you and hearing you sing. Danny ![]() From: judy (spence) clark (libby_lou_93@yahoo.com) February 20 2009 hi sammy, just to say hi and miss and love you judye ![]() From: Kurt Lengel (klengel@videotron.ca) February 8 2009 Sam, I miss you too. I remember all those nights spent at the Sundance Saloon on Corona Street, dancing and having a great time. I was just a kid, barely 18 (the legal age was lower then), and returning to Corpus Christi after being away for many years. I had no friends, and you took me under your wing, made me feel welcome. You brought me into your circle, let me hang with the band, even belt a few tunes on stage from time to time. You were, and still are, my truest friend, someone I will never forget. When I had my motorcycle accident, you took the time to visit me in the hospital and at home, encouraging me to get well and walk again. Over the years I drifted on, but I never forgot you or what you did for me. Occasionally, I would make it back to CC and I always looked you up, and you were always there to shake my hand, take me to lunch and listen to me ramble about my travels. It was never about you, Sam, it was about those around you. You made us all feel good, and people like you are a rarity these days. It is an honor to have you as a friend. You are in my heart and soul forever. To Kelsea and Jason, I know how you feel. In 2004 I lost my father and in 2006 my mother followed. Sam was a friend to them as well, and I understand that loss. There are no easy words of comfort, but he will always be with us everyday. My heart is with you both. ![]() From: kelsea January 14 2009 Dad, i need you.! ![]() From: Cindi Bonifer (gigibonifer@yahoo.com) January 14 2009 Daphne, I believe the song is ''Sadie Take a Lover''. Thanks for your patience! ![]() From: Daphne (dldaphne@shaw.ca) January 10 2009 Back in 1977 I had an album of Sam's. I can't remember the name of it. There was one song in particular that was so plaintive that I could emotionally release some tears. I don't even remember the name of the song, and the only words that come back to me are something about ''going south''...I think in a kind of chorus. I have checked the albums on Sam's web site but can't seem to find the song. I know this is very little to go on but can anyone help me figure out what song that is? I would like to purchase a CD that has it on it. Thanks anyone who can help.
