Dear Rex: I have done some searching online for a recording of an old song that I remember hearing when I was a little girl. I found that it was recorded in 1948 by your father (Rex Allen & His Arizona Wranglers). The song is funny (in the way that Archie Bunker was on All in the Family, because it is so ''politically'' incorrect. The name of it is ''Slap 'er Down Agin, Pa''. Any chance you might be able to give me some information that might assist me in locating a copy of it? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

When I was a little girl about 11 that would have been in 59 i got to see your dad at a state fair in Camden, Mo. He was in the fair parade during the day and at the rodeo that night I stood in line for an hour to get his autographed picture of him and KoKo.
I'd give anything if i still had that picture I grew up and decided to raise horses of my own APHA mares and foals Your dad had the prettiest horse I'd ever seenhad to wait till i was grown to have some of my ownjust wanted to share this with you I live in RoseBud Ark. If you're ever in my neighborhood be sure to stop by and say howdy AN OLD OLD FAN

Hi, our industry group will be having its annual conference in Phoenix this fall. I am a part of a group the opens the conference by singing a 4-part harmony (a capella) of God Bless America. We also try to perform songs that related to the venue - in this case like ''Tumbling Tumbleweeds''. Since we will be in Phoenix, we'd like to do your ''Arizona'' piece. However, I have not been able to find a source of the song on sheet music or a fake book. Do you know where I might be able to get at least the melody line? Thanks

Hi Rex. I just found your website and read all of your letters listed. I knew your brother, Mark when he was a dj at KPIK in Colorado Springs, CO. I was hoping to find out how he is doing, then you wrote that your mother and brother died in the same year. Were you talking about Mark? I've thought about him thoughout the years and wondered where life's road had taken him. Also, I was wanting to know if you have a personal relationship with the Lord? Great family. Enjoyed reading about your lifes. Thanks

My goodness...your fans do keep you busy, don't they. That makes me so happy! I wish I lived closer to you or at least closer to where your shows are. I used to watch the Rex Allen Jr. show, yeah, that was a while back. I'm an old musician, a 73 year old lady who plays great bass if I say so myself. I play for the Lord now at my church in Seattle. Please don't ever quit singing, you are my favorite of all time...you and your sweet dad. God bless you Rex and congratulations on your new grandchild. My love goes out to you and your family.

Hi there my friend! I was cleaning out a drawer and guess what I found? Yep your CD's...boy are they bringing back GREAT memories. I still think about your coming to Blue Mesa Ranch & Colorado River Oasis to do your show for me. It was SOOOOOOO worth all of the trouble I got in. The members STILL talk about it. Congrats on your grandbaby.....You and Deanna I'm sure will spoil her to pieces. In reading your letter I see that we are neighbors...once a month. drop me an email and maybe we can have lunch when you come over next time. Yes, I am in Palm Springs. I have an idea about your cowboy movies! Remember Gene Gebo? he is going strong up in Canada...email me and will fill you in on what I am thinking! Hugs to you both and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Rex: I just found out my parents were big fans of your dad and they named me after him in July, 1947. They changed Allen to be Alan for my middle name so my name is Rex Alan Andersen. I grew up a fan of westerns and your dad was my favorite.

Take care,
Rex.

We are having an all year Willcox High School Reunion August 6, 7 & 8th. We are getting a chorus together and would like to sing ''Arizona''. I have a copy of it but wanted to check to see if we could make copies for the chorus. I am excited for this reunion and think it will be great fun. Just a note, when I was first married, I lived in your Dad's Aunt Ruth Gardner's duplex there in Willcox.

Hey Trouble,
Shirley and I just bought a new ranch, the STRONGHEART RANCH, just outside Florence, CO. Ironically, they have me back writing westerns again. STRONGHEART will be out worldwide September, 2010. We have had health issues of late but have not seen our names in the obituary columns so far. That is a good sign. Give me a call. Number's the same. Keep yer powder dry, Partner. Don

Hi, Rex. I guess you could say I'm a second or third cousin. My Great Grand Mother , Susan California Teal (Callie) was your Great Grand Mother Francis (Fanny)Teal Clark's sister. My mom's folks ranch was the closest ranch to the Allen place out Bonita way. My mom was your dad's playmate up until the age of three. Those were tough times back then, but my ancestors were among the same group as the Allen's that went to Arizona from Texas. I met your grandfather Joe Clark when I was a kid. I was told back then by my grandfather Roy Morgan that Joe at one time was Sheriff of Cochise County. I've heard many stories about the families that settled in and around Wilcox before statehood. You are about 9 months older than I, so our time references would be somewhat similar. I know it has been a while since your dad passed, but I send my condolences for he always had a good place in my family's heart. Hope to see you at ''The Days'' in Wilcox some October. God bless.

Hi Rex, I've spoken to you before years back and wanted to touch bases with you again. My Mom and Dad were born and raised in Willcox, and I grew up there. My question....I know you probably have your line up for the Stage Show for Rex Allen Days, but I was wondering if you would let us throw our hat in for that special event. Please check out our website www.myspace.com/slicknickelbandyumaaz. There are samples of our CD (all original except two Merle Haggard copies) and some videos of our shows. Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you.

Hi Rex! Can you tell us if there is a way to get a copy of your 1975 recording of ''Lying in My Arms''? It is so beautiful and one of my favorites. Reminds me of young woman of 17 who had a big crush on the man who recorded it in 1975. Thanks so much. Take care.

I love the movies your dad made in the past. I love western movies and others. I love your singing and your family also. My dad could sing and he looked like Elvis Presley, even was chased by women before, thinking he was Elvis. I like to sing also. Wished I had pursued a career in the business. I am a nurse and I have a real estate license. My mom taught real estate until age 78 and she had her own company with my dad in the sixties and seventies. She also had her own school. Than she went on teaching for RealtySouth until she was 78. Take care and enjoy life. Love, Janet
