From: Jim (jwojo@ipmsak.net) August 27 2010 Gail, Your Father's postings, whether direct or indirect, on www.accuratereloading.com have meant a lot to those of us that frequent the site. I'm due to leave on my first Safari to Namibia and Zambia in 7 days. I had posted a picture of the beautiful Hoffman Arms (1938) .375 H&H I will be taking. Your Father kindly posted that he felt it to be the perfect Safari rifle in both looks and function. I can not express how much that meant. Please tell him thank you from ''Frostbit'' Anchorage, Alaska ![]() From: Albert A Rasch Home page: http://www.albertarasch.blogspot.com August 26 2010 Enjoyed the websiteand look forwadtocoming back with new updates. ![]() From: Forexio Home page: http://www.forextm.eu August 16 2010 Naprawdê fajna strona ![]() From: Forexer Home page: http://www.forextm.pl August 16 2010 Niezla strona ![]() From: Forexer Home page: http://www.forextm.info August 16 2010 fajna strona ![]() From: Forexio Home page: http://www.forex-tm.com July 1 2010 I have been here ![]() From: Forexio Home page: http://www.forextm.com June 30 2010 I like this page. ![]() From: Miguel (Mtonnies@somague.pt) June 4 2010 I am re-reading Ruark's Horn of the Hunter and, as always, your Father's character is impressive. So today I just googled his name and it seems I was transported right into the familie's bosom. What a joy to know Harry Selby is still well. I also cary Africa inside of me, being born in Mozambique and having returned to Africa on several occasions. What a joy it was to get near the Selby's ( even if only through your very human site ) All the best Miguel ![]() From: jason guilmain (jayguilmain@gmail.com) May 14 2010 i hope that your father is doing well. i frist heard of him in robert rouks book horn off the hunter. and have looked for any thing that had anything to do with him .on tv or in books and magaziens too. he is and seems an amazing person . i just wish i could meet him and shake his hand .and say sir it's an honour and i'm humbled to met you. ![]() From: Stephen Palos (stephen@thegrillmaster.co.za) Home page: http://www.bigbore.org April 20 2010 Hi Gail, What a fine site this is! I have not met you, but I hope all that will change within the week because we are packing to head your way right now. I found your site doing some final research. It all happened when I mentioned to Dr. Willie(bees) Barnard, and Ken & Cathy Stewart that I'd love to go to Botswana with Ken and meet/introduce my young 10 y.o. son to some of the great hunters of the golden safari era. Of course Ken's wife's dad & your dad(Ken Randal) are cousins so Ken immediately got excited and now nearly a year later we are on our way... We plan to spend about 2 days in Maun before heading up to Ian McFarlane near Shakawe and then, if Ken Stewart has his way, we are heading to Kasane to meet Fred Bartlet too! Hope to be seeing you all soon Stephen Palos ![]() From: John (hadeda@futurenet.co.za) Home page: http://collectorsplants.co.za March 4 2010 Hi Gail what a great site. Please help. I am doing a family tree and there is a big Selby gap!! thanks John Clayton ![]() From: Wiley Robinson (wrobin7206@aol.com) February 25 2010 Dear Mr. Selby, I have finished re-reading Ruark's Horn of Africa. After reading, I Googled your name and discovered that you are alive and well! I then went back through my American Rifleman magazines and discovered your story. We are losing our golden age and I regret that I have not undertaken a safari to Africa. Reading of your exploits with Ruark fills my mind with exotic images of a wild country full of unique creatures and colorful characters. I have three young boys and twin girls on the way and my dream will be to one day take them on a safari. I seriously regret not booking your services many years ago when you were still active as a PH. I admire men such as yourself who live a life in tune with those great animals that you hunt. It is wonderful that you have a son who will allow others the opportunity to experience Africa on safari. I will continue to work very hard to gather resources to be able to experience Africa with my family. Too bad we can't somehow get our youth to put down the video games and enjoy the bush. I intend to read all of Ruark's writings in which you are the key figure. Mr. Selby, you are a national treasure and I wish you the best. ![]() From: deolinda (deolindacaldeira@gmail.com) February 16 2010 thanks gail. what an evocative site. ![]() From: David (daviscarlod4@gmail.com) Home page: http://debt.atspace.us January 21 2010 Nice site Thanks ![]() From: Charles Fuchs (fuchscmzignz@gmail.com) January 15 2010 I have thoroughly enjoyed this site ! My husband Henry Stewart brought me to africa for my first time on our honeymoon in 1993. we spent 16 days hunting with your father, whom henry had hunted with years before, and I promise you it was the thrill of a lifetime for me, and scary too---as I'd never been on safari. As Henry & Harry were old friends, it was fascinating for me to listen--in the evenings, by the river to the many stories---especially from your father, of his life, about his family, and the thousands of adventures that were his life. I hope to return some day, with my grandchildren, africa remains imbeded in my memory, in no small part due to your wonderful father and those special 16 days in the bush. Please tell Harry, that Henry passed away in 1995. thanks again, DeeDee Stewart ![]() From: Richard John McNamara (mcnamararichard@msn.com) November 23 2009 So sorry to see the news of your loss. My condolences. In 06 I went to Tanzania and climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa has been in my blood for some time now, and your site, which was linked in a ''24HourCampfire'' posting, is a wonderful slice of African life. I shoot a 416 Rigby due to your father and Robert Ruarks influence, and someday pray that it will get its proper use in the wonderful places you know so well. Thank You for taking the time to share this with us all. ![]() From: Dave Ricchio (djricc@yahoo.com) September 15 2009 Hi Gail, Years ago I read everything I could that Robert Ruark could write about Africa not realizing at the time that your father, Harry Selby, was the man responsible for Ruark's stories. I just read about Harry in the August/September 2009 issues of the American Rifleman in which Harry writes about ''The Kwaheri Safari'', what a great article with every detail down to the name of the woman who saw the elephants. A close friend of mine will be going to South Africa on a ''Photo Safari'' in two weeks and Botawana will be one of the stop-overs. I told him today I would send your website to him. Sincerely, Dave Ricchio ![]() From: Mubarak Atik (africangametrails@gmail.com) Home page: http://www.spiderexpedition.com September 10 2009 Well, what a luck i have had today!I'm glad to have read about a legend...and from one of his direct descendants!Gail, thanks alot for giving us an insight about your life, i appreciate that.I live in Moshi, tanzania and i'm a keen hunter and i'm happy i got in touch with you.A great website and i loved the pictures and the guestbook section. Thanks Again! I just wanted to say I enjoyed the tribute to your dad in this week's issue of The Ngami Times. I was glad to learn of the honour bestowed upon him. He certainly has engendered much interest in Africa and Botswana particulary in those of us that have followed his career. I hope you were finally able to get a copy of the DVD I left last year in Maun of the hunt with your brother in the 80s. Give Mark my best. Charles ![]() From: Kevin Leibold (kleibold@comcast.net) May 9 2009 Greetings from central Pennsylvania, USA. Very nice web site - interesting and informing. Someday I will visit Botswana and especially the delta - very unique. I've been to Africa three times - it's your Dad's fault. I really enjoy the experience and love to hunt. I grew up hunting whitetail deer and since I enjoy reading about African hunting I decided to try Africa. I have many relatives that hunt but so far I'm the only one to venture to Africa - I'm the lucky one. I'll be back. Thanks again for the web site and posting at Accurate Reloading. Adios Kevin Leibold ![]() From: John Fenston (john@fenston.co.uk) April 15 2009 Dear Gail, I am so glad to have found your site, and even more delighted to know your father is still with you. I have been trying to find an address for him for many years. I had the inestimable privilege of going on a hunting safari with him in Kenya in 1960. I was only 15 at the time, but my father Felix, who had been on several trips with Harry, felt that hunting might be stopped, and he wanted me to have what was a unique experience. I recall very precisely some bizarre and amusing anecdotes about our respective fathers, and will email you. Please give my warmest best wishes to Harry together with my very sincere respects and thanks for having enriched the life of a highly impressionable youngster. He was kindness itself to me, and I have always remembered Harry with great regard and affection. Best regards, John Fenston ![]() From: doyle hass jr. Because they don't contain enough of the medication, so you should use them more often, longer time and spend more money. Don't trust Clenbuterol? It is a prescription medicine! Clenbuterol is strong, and that's why you can only get it at your doctor. Try it! You'll see the difference! Enjoyed reading about him directly in Horn of the Hunter and by inference in Something of Value. I've hunted in Tanzania and South Africa but have been spooked by the politics in Zim. If you ever travel to New York, look me up. I'd enjoy a visit from you and your husband.
