Very much enjoyed my first Kirkwall regatta on August 2nd. I had previously sailed Snipes at Holm, Longhope, Stromness and Westray, but never in the capital. Lovely bay and good courses. Thanks for great organisation and refreshments.

Thanks for the well organised first day of sailing this year, on Sunday. I didn't do so well but the weather was great. I would like to see more races; two short races seemed to be a very early finish for the day.

On behalf of the participants and the committee of the 'North Sea Triangle', I would like to thank all people of the Orkney Sailing Club for the hospitality that we have experienced during our stay in Kirkwall.
For most of us it was the first visit to the Orkneys, probably of many visits to follow.
The day after the reception in the Girnel we sailed to Farsund in Norway, under good conditions.
After having spent some days there, we returned to the Netherlands. In heavy weather, NW 7 - 8, later 5 - 6, most yachts made it home safely. Unluckily, one was dismasted, another yacht lost its rudder. Both had to return to Norway. Luckily, there were no personal injuries.

Thanks again for making us feel welcome, for all the good care and hospitality!

Erik Hardonk

We are delighted that there is interest in the Loch Ness Monster Race from your Catamaran fleet.
We look forward to seeing some of you there on 25th August, and are glad to be bringing one of the UK's largest catamaran events within reach of sailors from so far North.
Dave Parker is looking forwardto seeing his old Hurricane again, and taking it on with his Tornado, and it will be rgeat to see what i believe is the UK's most active Hobie 18 fleet.

see you there!

Nessie

Final Journy

On the last, log night, when the light is low,
And the softest of breezes gently flow;
I'll Hoist my sail, and will gladly go
O'er the unknowen sea, to that far-off lad -
Where him whom we serve will extend his hand,
And welcome me on that distant strand,
Where the storms of life are forever stilled,
And his proise tome will be fulfilled,
a number of friends whom I've held dear,
They will mourn for me, and shed a tear
but i will be safe on the futher shore,
And greeted by those who have gne before -
and like me , are the rest forevermore.

i was told some of you Orkney ones might like this!!!
